Pak delegation refuses scanning at US airport, returns home
http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?p..._7-3-2010_pg1_2

Daily Times Monitor

LAHORE: A six-member delegation of the National Assembly and Senate returned to Pakistan in protest after refusing a body scan at the Dulles International Airport, located 40 kilometres west of Washington, a private TV channel reported on Saturday.

Talking to the channel, head of the delegation Senator Abbas Khan Afridi said they were asked for a body-scan but they refused, as they considered it an insult to parliamentarians of a sovereign country. He said they were informed before their arrival in the US that they would not face any such discrimination during their visit. The delegation had reached the US on February 28 for a 15-day visit.

they can afford to do it because they are spending people money. people are spending their own money and they dont have lots of it.
ajaj
In this case I think they used the money of the people of Pakistan as it should have been used. We are a sovereign nation and our representatives shall not be scanned by any country. PakistanFlag.gif

I was about to say the same thing....Had it been their own money they would have gone through.

As a matter of principle, they are right to have gone home.

USA needs to learn some manners. These are senators from a sovereign [and allied!] nation FFS!
HKK
next time any american delegation comes to Pakistan, give them a hand search with gloves on.
ZPak
They weren't travelling as private Pakistani citizens. They were visiting the US representing Pakistan. So it was the right thing to do. Especially if they were informed beforehand.

They might be scoundrels, but they are our scoundrels, only we have that right. Externally they are representing our beloved FLAG, hence, the respect they must receive from foreign countries.

NO they are not spending any ones money, they went to america on the request of the americans, on a program funded by the american govt. which had arranged for every thing plus they were even giving them $200 daily as spending money.

So i would say they did wt they did on personal loss and we should all be proud of them

This is hypocracy. They had no objections to being scanned while going to the US, why object on the return trip, except to score propaganda points. If they had an H&D they would have opposed the scans while leaving Pakistan.

Are you for real?... they dont have these digital virtual strip-search machines in Pak airports!!...

They were not scanned when they departed to go to Washington. Nor were they scanned when they landed in Washington. They were asked to be scanned when they were on their second leg of their journey within the US (domestic flight).

It was then they refused.

So please... get the facts straight.. before opening your "dumbo" mouth!

Exactly.

the only thing i would say ... atleast behave like brazilians ... they have passed the same law for americans as americans passed for 12 countries of scanning.
