Tariq Ali is a pretty well known author... He spoke out against Ahmed Rashid and called him a stooge of the neo cons... You find alot of his articles on Counter Punch and Anti War...

tariq ali is a well known socialist, and a media presenter. I actually met him on an anti war demo a few years ago.

I'm not even sure if he regards himself as muslim, as he has very secular socialist views.
