Border troops of Bangladesh, India fight on border

www.chinaview.cn 2005-03-05 00:13:49

DHAKA, March 4 (Xinhuanet) -- The border troops of Bangladesh and India have been fighting since Friday morning on a dispute on barbed-wire fencing on the southeastern Khagrachai frontier of Bangladesh bordering India's northeastern Tripura state.

The private television channel NTV reported in its night bulletin that the border guards are exchanging fire intermittentlyfrom the morning on the dispute of barbed-wire fence which India is building along its 4,000 km border with Bangladesh.

The report said the border guards of the two neighbors have flown red flags on their respective sides and asked the villagers on both sides to evacuate themselves to safer places.

The border troops of the two countries had a flag meeting Friday in the Bangladesh side, but it ended inconclusive. The two sides are supposed to meet again Saturday.

The report did not mention if there were any injury or casualtyon both sides during Friday's gunfire.

The frontier troops of both the countries have fought last weekin the northwestern Dinajpur border. Three Bangladeshi nationals were killed in the fight by Indian troops. Two Indian nationals were reportedly killed during the fight.

Border firing between the two country is a common affair and atleast 50 nationals in both sides are killed annually in the firing.Enditem

Salaam brothers,

Why don't you understand one thing! Bangladesh is not Pakistan.

Bangladeshis are bugs waiting to be thrashed by India.

The day they will crossed their limits it will be impossible for any Islamic nation to save them from India.

Border firing between BSF and BDR is going on for years, not really a front as yet.
This opening front business thing is a risky game and it cuts both ways.
Just like Pak suddenly has to deal with a front on its west and there it does not seem like the issue of a few shots.

Bangladeshis can fight quite fiercly actually if they had to wage a guerilla war. If India invaded, they wouldn't get far inside Bangladesh. It would be a repeat of the SriLankan whooping they got not too long ago. The only advantage they'd have is overwhelming air superiority. But Remember there are dense forests in Bangladesh which would reneder air cover useless.

Anyway IAF is not that good because they seriously lack in a lot of stuff but they got SU 30mki but still its got load of maintaince issues.

In case there is a punitive action from India, why would they hold on to B'desh instead of leaving it after the blow is delivered? Natural resources? Human capital? Dont flatter yourself.

Its quite ridiculous to blow these border incidents out of proportion. These are pretty routine issues on the border. Nothing a Flag meeting between BDR or BSF will not resolve.
Although its a totally irrelevant and hypothetical but Would also love to know what the IAF lacks viv a vis BD airforce.
For an AF which acquires aircrafts in less than 10 at a time,Probably the INdian Navy fleet air arm may be bigger than the Bd AF.
