Army doesn't want to fight against its own people: Kayani

MIRANSHAH - Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani on Monday said that the Pakistan Army doesn't want to fight with its own people but it was compelled to launch operation against terrorists in Waziristan.
The COAS visited the area and inaugurated Sainkai Ragi Zai Cadet College. He also reviewed security situation and ongoing developmental work in South Wazirstan Agency.
Addressing a ceremony during the inauguration of Cadet College he said that the college would be built with the cost of Rs 500 million.
COAS said that infrastructure would be built in South and North Waziristan. Besides, a third route would be opened in the area for trade with Afghanistan. Kayani said army has started as many as 121 uplift projects in Malakand Division and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
The Corps Commander Peshawar briefed the COAS about the several ongoing developmental projects in the area.
Meanwhile, General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani also held meeting with tribal elders and assured them full cooperation.

I don't really like kiyani, I'm convinced that he is a chronic alcoholic and probably corrupt down to the core but one should give credit where due. Building army and naval cadet colleges all over balochistan and fata/pata will do wonders in cooling down the tempers of the masses, especially the younger generation; enrolling and graduating from cadet colleges pretty much guarantees selection into a military academy and thus a decent career in the military.
