KARACHI: Pakistan Navy on Monday successfully test fired surface-to-air missile in the Sonmiani area, near Karachi.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Naval Chief Admiral Noman Bashir observed the missile experiment. The missile successfully hit its target in the air.
The ISPR revealed that the new missile will further strengthen the defence of Pakistan in the sea.
The Naval chief congratulated Navy officials and soldiers and vowed to defend the country in all circumstances.
Earlier last week, the Army Strategic Force command’s strategic missile group successfully test fired Ghauri Hatf V, a medium-range ballistic missile capable of carrying nuclear and conventional warheads.

The Pakistan Navy Monday successfully test-fired several surface-to-air missiles to assess its air defence capabilities, officials said. Three surface-to-air missile tests were carried out in Sonmiani area of Sindh province, a navy spokesman said, adding all missiles hit their targets precisely.
Naval chief Admiral Noman Bashir and Air Defence Commander Vice Admiral Tayyab Ali Dogar witnessed the drill. "The successful testing will add to the defence capability of the Pakistan Navy," Bashir said. A combination of surface-to-air missiles was tested, the navy said in a statement.
The "fire and forget" missiles are equipped with highly sensitive infrared homing heads that can intercept high speed aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles. These weapons give the navy the flexibility to operate with various missiles and strengthen the ground-based air defence, the statement said.
The area of responsibility of the navy's Air Defence Battalion stretches from Sir Creek in the east to Jiwani in the west, it added. Officials said the induction of modern weapons and equipment will augment the navy's ground-based air defence capabilities against hi-tech aircraft and missiles.

Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Noman Bashir, witnessed the live Surface to Air missile firing along with Vice Admiral Tayyab AliDogar, the Air Defence Commander of Pakistan Navy.
All the missiles fired, successfully acquired the targets. It said that a combination of SAM series were tested which gave PN the flexibility to operate with a range of missiles and strengthen the ground based air defence.
A large number of Armed Forces officers witnessed the firing serial.
Chief of Naval Staff appreciated the efforts put in by the Air Defence Battalion of Coastal Command and urged the officers and men to leave no stone unturned to ensure an impeccable defence.
Upon his arrival, the Admiral was given a detailed briefing by Commander Marines.
The Commander in his brief said that air threat being very dynamic in nature has assumed multiple dimensions in today's warfare and continuously changing with the rapid technological developments. He added that the induction of these state of the art weapons/equipment will augment PN ground based air defence capabilities against Hi-Tech aircraft and incoming missiles.
The missiles are equipped with highly sensitive infrared homing head which can intercept high speed aircraft and unmanned Aerial Vehicles. These SAMs are 'Fire and Forget' type missiles.

Umm....Pakistan does not have FN-6, and FN-6 is a man portable missile, not what you typically find on ships. It is the HQ-7A (or FM-90) which is the main SAM of the F-22.

Both FN-6 and the FN-16 are man portable missiles. FN-16 is an improved FN-6, but it is not modified to fire from ships, it is still a man portable missile. Unless you are saying that a PN sailor stood on the deck of the F-22P and fired an FN-6. (Which i unlikely since F-22P has its own SAM aka the HQ-7).

Same way PN integrated Mistral MANPADS. The test was carried out from the coast as the weapon's primary usage will be coastal defence. I shouldn't have said F-22 (it was 6 am here, without coffee), the test was from coastline.

No that's the Mistral (missile) Pakistan Navy and Air Force has this since the 1990s !
Mistral is an infrared homing surface-to-air missile manufactured by the European multinational company MBDA missile systems (formerly by Matra BAe Dynamics). Based on the French SATCP (Sol-Air À Très Courte Portée), the portable missile later to become the Mistral began development in 1974. It was initially deployed in 1988.

It has been stated in the past that Pakistan used SM-1MR block V (Rim-66B: which had a range of ~67km) on its Brooke class frigates of the 1980s. However, I have only seen it here and there (and not from any really reliable resource) that Pakistan had this missile. It may have actually been RIM-24 Tartar missile. I'd like someone to find me actual source stating that Pakistan actually operated these missiles on the Brooke class. Next, if Pakistan had them, WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM? Do they still have them (in storage or something) or where they returned to the US along with the Brookes/Garcias?
If Pakistan still has the SM-1MR in its possession, then I would highly suggest that it be reverse engineered like the Harpoon apparently has been, in order to provide an indigenous medium range SAM for use in navy and army. The advantage would be great because if its range is extended, the SM-1MR can be a great SAM and AntiShip missile.
So again, I ask everyone, please find me what happened with these missiles in Pakistan.

Pak Marines Test Short Range Air Defense Missiles
Pak Marines have tested the man portable air defence system to enhance their capabilities against the enemy air attacks. Three such missiles were tested in the Sonmiani test range. Missile uses a very sensitive passive infrared guidance to home on to its targets and due to its light weight it can be carried and launched by the Marines. Missile has a range of about 6 kilometers.
Pak Marines have acquired these missiles to provide short range air defense capability which will allow them to defend themselves from the air attacks by the enemy forces. This test was witnessed by the Chief of the Pakistan Navy, Admiral Noman Bashir.

You can notice that in the picture, the first looks like the FN-6 the other is the Mistral SAM

FN-6:

Mistrals in service with the Pakistan Marines air defence groups:

The HongYing 6 (also known as FeiNu-6 or FN-6 in its export name) is a third-generation man-portable air-defence missile system (MAPADS) developed in parallel with the QianWei series. The missile is fitted with an infrared seeker featuring strong resistance to enemy flare, solar heat, and heat from the ground. The missile has all-aspect attack capability with a single-shot hit probability of 70%. The missile features a pyramid-shape nose with a four-unit IR sensor. The launcher is fitted with an optical sight and an IFF antenna. The batteries and cooling system is fitted inside the handle under the launcher. The missile has entered the PLA service in limited numbers.
