Last thursday, RIGHT before the India - Bang game, articles and news tidbits started coming out on how the Pak-Ind game on Sunday wont be as important as both countries will be in the finals if india beats bangladesh. Think about what this does to viewer ratings (and therefore the AMOUNT of betting bids that would take place as this was an un-important game). IMMEDIATELY I said to ppl that Bangladesh was going to beat India and everyone laughed at me. And lo and behold, Bangladesh won.
Now for whoever saw that game, cannot, cannot, REPEAT CANNOT deny that there were way too many convinient full tosses at the end of the Ind-Bang game, and most of the Bangla sixes came off those full tosses. Also the betting rating for an India-Bangla game is usually 1.1 or 1.15 in favour of india (i.e, for every 100 bux you bet on India to win, you will get $110 or $115 (10 or 15% MORE money) back if india wins). However the ratings for the Ind-bangla game were higher than 1.5 last week! (ie you'd get 50% or more back). Now how many ppl do you think this would have influenced to bet a lot of their money on India (and consequently lost all their money)? There were tidbits on the news that bookies earned a whopping 600 million dollars that day as Bangladesh won
Now about Sunday's game, which if India lost they would NOT MAKE the finals, that is more than 1 billion people not tuning into watching the Asia Cup Final on thursday (remember how articles came up on cricinfo on how the Asia Cup is a useless tournament which many ppl dont follow? And now so conviniently this is the MOST WATCHED asia cup ever?). India's absence from the finals and a very potential Pak-Bangla final would mean a VERY LOW AMOUNT of betting from that over 1 billion ppl slumhouse in addition to the massive ratings loss. Therfore right after the Bangla win I immediately said to all my friends that Pak is going to throw the sunday match and win the final with india.
Again they all thought i was crazy, and you could all see what happened on sunday. Remember that Indian Sports Illustrated article that came out a few months ago that detailed VERY PRECISELY how a match is fixed and how to do so all you need is to buy 5 players which is enough to overturn a match result and that YOU HAVE TO BUY THE KEEPER. That same article talked about how players like Saaed Ajmal and Afridi could not be bought as they were very religious. Do you guys know that Sarfraz Ahmed is a hafiz of Quran and a deeply religious fellow? I dont think we need to discuss the characters of the Akmal brothers. Now tell me something, why would sarfraz ahmed, the EXCELLENT WICKETKEEPER who's done absolutley nothing wrong with his keeping or his batting be immediately and surprisingly replaced with KHATmal, a semi-consistent keeper with a known fixing history?
And lets give Misbah credit, he is not dumb as a rock, he's done an MBA for God's sake. Plus he has a lot of captaincy and playing experience from his 20+ years of playing domestic cricket to make good decisions. Do you think any SANE individual like this would give Wahab Riaz the ball again at the most crucial time of the match (riaz who at the time had given 37 runs off 3 overs?) Oh and the icing of the cake was Rehman Malik flying out to meet the Pak team right before the match JUST LIKE THE WC semi final.
And now we will have a MEGA EXTRAVAGANZA Pak-Ind final on thursday, where every pak and indian household will tune into watch and massive betting taking place on india to win the final as India crushed Pakistan on sunday and pak team seems "utterly clueless" against indian batting and also the fact that Pak has lifted this trophy only once more than 10 years ago while india has lifted it more than 4 times. But, as you will see for yourselves, Pak will win the final and the bookies will rake in a lot of dough once again.
So cheer up, Pak will win the final InshAllah, not because they are the better team, but because all of this is fixed WWF style entertainment. I am not saying that EVERY MATCH is fixed, but definitley every high profile and HYPED matches or tournaments like this one certainly are.
PAA JI
Bangladesh beat SriLanka. India is out. Its Pakistan and BD in final.

Star TV, owned by Rupert Murdoch, has won the rights to broadcast Indian cricket for 2012-2018. The deal, which also includes internet and mobile rights, was valued at Rs 3851 crores (approximately $750 million) and covers 96 matches. The other bidder - at Rs 3700 crores, or $727 million - was Multi-Screen Media (Sony), which currently owns the rights to the IPL.
The rights cover all international cricket in India, and domestic competitions including the Ranji Trophy and Irani Cup; they do not include the IPL. The first series under this deal, according to a schedule announced on Monday, will be New Zealand's tour of India in August-September 2012; England have a full tour later in the year and Australia arrive in February for a four-Test series.
Under the deal, Star TV will be paying approximately Rs.40 crores (US$7.86 million) for each match, significantly more than the Rs.32.5 crores (US$6.38 million) the previous broadcaster, Nimbus, had to pay for each match. The pricing is in two stages, Farooq Abdullah, chairman of the BCCI's marketing committee, told ESPNcricinfo: Rs 32.2 crores ($6.3 million) for the matches from 2012 to 2014 and Rs 43.20 crore ($8.5 million) for the matches from 2014 to 2018.
"This is a substantial improvement [on the previous contract with Nimbus]," N Srinivasan, the BCCI president, said. "And the BCCI is very, very happy that the media rights have been fully evaluated and now, I think, fully priced."
While the bid was submitted by Star TV, Uday Shankar, the channel's chief executive, made it clear that the rights will be shared with ESPN, its partner in the ESPN Star Sports* joint-venture. "STAR India will work collaboratively with ESPN-STARSports to exploit the rights", Shankar said. "Right now, we have three sports channels -- Star Sports, ESPN and Star Cricket to broadcast cricket. However, if required, we could explore the launch of new channels."
Manu Sawhney, managing director, ESPN STAR Sports, said: "It was decided by ESS that the preferred way for these rights is for Star to bid with the understanding that should they win, they would utilize these rights in partnership with ESS."
The deal gives Star and ESS a virtual stranglehold on marquee cricket events, since they already own the rights to ICC tournaments as well as cricket in Australia and England. The collaboration also owns rights to the Champions League Twenty20.
The board has also cancelled its production rights contract with Nimbus. ESPNcricinfo understands that the BCCI might want to own the production rights instead of selling it.
The board was forced to issue a new tender after it terminated its contract with Nimbus in December 2011, claiming the latter had defaulted on its payments. The matter has subsequently been referred for arbitration, with the Bombay High Court ruling that Nimbus must deposit Rs 305 crores (approx US$60 million) with the court as security for the amount the BCCI claims it is owed by the company. Nimbus has also made a counter-claim of Rs 600 crores (approx US$118 million) from the board.
The BCCI's marketing committee set the price for category A games at Rs 31.25 crores per match (approx $6.1 million) plus Rs 1 crore (approx $0.2 million) while category B games were set at Rs 34 crores (approx $6.67 million) plus Rs 1 crore. The contract with Nimbus had a base price of Rs 31.25 crores (approx $6.1 million) per game for each of the three formats purely for the broadcast rights.
The board did attempt to sell the internet rights separately last year, but the tender found no takers at the initial base price of Rs 3 crores (approx $0.6 million) or its subsequently reduced price of Rs 2 crores (approx $0.4 million).

Mohammad Amir, the Pakistan fast-bowler banned from competitive cricket for five years for his part in the spot-fixing scandal of the 2010 Lord's Test, has appeared in an educational video on behalf of the ICC's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU).
In the five-minute video, Amir speaks about his life after being trapped by the illegal betting mafia, his embarrassment at lying to the ICC during its Qatar hearings and his three months in a British prison. Amir recounts his career, coming into the Pakistan team, and the Lord's Test, of which he says, "I took six wickets but I did something very bad… after a couple of hours, my life is changed, my life is ruined because of two no balls." It is understood the Amir video has also been shown to players from the various IPL teams in the lead-up to the event, which began on Wednesday.
Amir said he had wanted to confess to the ICC anti-corruption tribunal during their hearings in Qatar last January, but had been unable to do so. In the video, he says, "I always knew this was cheating cricket but I was under pressure. But I accept my mistake. When I was in the ICC hearing, I knew I was totally embarrassed because I knew I am lying. I wanted to tell the truth but I didn't have courage."
He said had bowled the no-balls at Lord's because, "some senior players put me under pressure. I didn't want to. One day I was on the top and the next day everyone was calling me cheater and fixer. You don't have words to explain that." The spot-fixing episode, he said, had been an act of entrapment but accepted his mistake of becoming a part of it. He said he was tricked into spot-fixing and he was not aware of the the player-agent Mazhar Majeed's intentions.
When he found himself facing a criminal trial, Amir said he had decided to tell the truth. The spot-fixing exercise was exposed by a sting operation arranged by the now defunct UK Sunday tabloid, the News Of the World. Amir who will turn 20 on April 13, pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to accept corrupt payments and conspiracy to cheat at gambling and did not stand trial in London. He was sentenced to six months in jail and in the video says, "When the police put me in handcuffs I was literally crying and I was thinking I am not going to play cricket ever again."
His parting message in the video is, "Prison is a bad place for everyone. Don't make the mistakes which I did. I was stupid I didn't tell anybody because I didn't have coverage...If someone comes to you and asks you to do those kind of things, go straight to ICC team and team management they can help you."
Since his release after serving half of his six-month custodial sentence in England, Amir has been in contact with the ICC and PCB for an educational and rehabilitation program, which "remains confidential".
Speaking to ESPNcricinfo last month, the ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat had suggested the idea of Amir featuring in videos to point out the perils of corruption as part of educating young cricketers. "If Mohammad Amir stands up and delivers a message of caution about this murky world, people are going to sit up and listen. That is one example of rehabilitation,' Lorgat said.
In a televised interview with former England captain Michael Atherton last month, Aamer said his friendship with former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt was betrayed as it was Butt who had lured him into spot-fixing. Amir is currently living in Lahore, and serving his five-year ban which will run till 2015. There is no suggestion that Amir's appearance in the ACSU video will lead to a reduction of his ban.
There has been a lot of sympathy for Amir largely due to his age. Former captain Ramiz Raja met the bowler last week said, "the lad is obviously shaken badly by the gravity of events." The PCB at the moment is keen to take care of the bowler but is yet to launch any rehabilitation program officially; it is understood the ICC is supporting the PCB in the process. An ICC spokesman told ESPNcricinfo: "The ICC has been in contact with Amir and the PCB about appropriate education and rehabilitation at an appropriate time, the details of which remain confidential."

International cricket is set to return to Pakistan after three years, with Bangladesh formally confirming to the PCB that they will play one ODI and one Twenty20 International there later this month. There has been no cricket between two Full Member nations in Pakistan since the attack on the Sri Lanka team in March 2009.
The ODI is scheduled for April 29 and the T20I for April 30. Both matches will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
"The public of Pakistan have been deprived of cricket and we felt that we needed to support them," BCB president Mustafa Kamal said. "The reception we received when we toured Lahore and Karachi on our security visit was overwhelming."
Zaka Ashraf, the PCB chairman, thanked the BCB and the Bangladesh government for their support for the tour.
The ICC, though, was more guarded in its response, saying it had asked the the PCB for a security plan, following which its Anti-Corruption and Security Unit would commission a localised risk assessment to determine the safety of its officials and staff; only after that would it decide on deploying its officials.
Last month, the ICC had introduced a "special dispensation" to be made only in "exceptional circumstances" in order to ensure that bilateral series take place even if the ruling body has determined it "unsafe" to appoint its officials for such series. This would allow such series to be manned by "non-neutral match officials", a departure from the ICC's Standard Playing Conditions, pending permission from its executive board.
Bangladesh was due for a full tour of Pakistan in 2012 under the ICC's Future Tours Programme. The PCB also said the remaining matches of the tour will be played at dates mutually agreed between the two Boards at venues including Bangladesh.
There had been several itineraries proposed for the tour, including a three-match ODI series and a series of two ODIs and one Twenty20 international. Karachi and Rawalpindi were the other possible venues but ESPNcricinfo understands they were dropped on security grounds.
Sunday's announcement follows lengthy negotiations between the two boards over the terms of the tour, and at times it looked as though the tour would be a non-starter. A nine-member delegation, headed by Kamal and including security officials from that country, visited Pakistan in March for a demonstration of the security plan for the proposed series. The plan was well received, it is believed, but confirmation of the series was delayed. One reason, according to the BCB, was that it was waiting for a government advisory; another possible reason was the ICC's special dispensation plan, which possibly implied that the venue was not safe for neutral officials.
Jalal Yunus, the BCB's media committee chairman, said Kamal had taken charge of the matter and handled it personally. "We haven't talked about it since Zaka Ashraf came and discussed the matter officially, so it has been 2-3 months," he said. "The BCB president must have known the government stance and that's why he has confirmed. He has handled it personally from the beginning."
The tour will come a little more than three years after masked terrorists attacked the Sri Lanka team bus and a van carrying ICC officials to Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, on what would have been the third day of the second Test of that tour. Six Sri Lankan cricketers were injured in the attack, and six security personnel and two civilians were killed.
Since then, Pakistan have hosted "home series" in UAE and other neutral venues. They played New Zealand in New Zealand (2009-10), England and Australia in England (2010). UAE has been their favoured home base, having hosted South Africa, Sri Lanka and England.

KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Zaka Ashraf, in an effort to resume bilateral cricket ties with India, has asked chairman Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) N Srinivasan if India would be willing to play host to Pakistan’s home series in the future.
According to a Press Trust of India (PTI) report, Ashraf told Srinivasan that Pakistan would be willing to play its future home series on Indian soil if the Indian board was ready to host them.
Ashraf also told the Indian board President and ICC President, Sharad Pawar, that if India agreed to host Pakistan’s ‘home’ matches the PCB would pay for all the expenses involved in the venture.
Recently Misbahul Haq also called for resuming bilateral cricket ties with India, saying that It would benefit not just the two countries but the world of cricket too.
Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif also called for reviving cricketing ties between Pakistan and India to help improve relations between the two countries.
BCCI has avoided any bilateral cricket relations with Pakistan since the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and since 2009, foreign teams have refused to tour the country due to security concerns, forcing Pakistan to play all home series at neutral venues like the UAE, England and New Zealand.

Shoaib Malik is corrupt. Kick him out for good.
Salman Butt, ban him for life. No where near PCB premises. Mohammad Asif same story, no future.
Deal with corruption with an iron fist. Anyone even near a bookie, ban for life. Play with mediocre players if needs be, who are hard working.
People creating mess in a dressing room, ban them for a few matches, they do again, do the same, if they still dont stop, ban for life.
All in all, ban losers left and right. That should be good.

His worth is as a BOWLER, he has been one of the top 5 bowlers in one-days for the last 2 yrs, his bowling wins us matches. His batting is now just a bonus, when he clicks its an added bonus, he should not be counted on as a batsman. Atleast he doesnt waste valuable deliveries like Tuk Tuk misbah. I'd rather prefer him in one-days over Misbah Ul TUK

Oh and let's not forget the beautiful batting display of when we were 140 for 1 in just the 29th over, and just added 104 runs in the next 21 overs
