29/3 as we speak... Shafiq is the latest hero. Seems like Misbah and Younis are once again left to do the honours.

They are moving all the way to off stump and playing the ball there. what do you think is gonna happen. professor sahab is gone, khatmal is gone (nothing new there.... he is master of dead pitches only) followed by the brilliant umpire's decision of sending asad home. I honestly thought he was given caught behind (watching on internet. cannt see ball clearly). but i tell you what, looking at the weather, if the dew is not there in the evening, new zealand gonna have some really tough bowling attack to face. If only if we can make 230.

Well said. They have to survive and go for singles and doubles. Pakistan will have their turn with the ball. On second thought, Hafeez wasn't out. He just didn't read the line at all.
YK gone 57/4 This is a very difficult pitch to bat on. Let's hope we can bat 50 overs, but at this rate very unlikely. We need a competitive total. We won the toss and underestimated the turn in the pitch.
Another Khatmal gone for duck. Seems like we're destined for an ultra-low total today.

Another one gone 96/8
I would rather see them humiliated now. Let's hope they learn a few lessons before the WC.

Sohail tanvir has an almost 30 avg. in domestic...he should be acting like a proper all rounder! I have never seen him play a decent knock against a top team in his 30 odd outings yet...the team managment needs to speak to him about this, he needs to contribute with the bat as well, if he wants a place in this side.

agree or not............this team needs imran khan's treatment of "you play like I want u too or fuc|( off". Like him or not, look at the list of good world class players of Pakistan, after his retirement, we barely got any new good talent.

It was predicted on Pakistani TV before this ODI series started that Pakistan will do badly. The reason for it was that Imran Farahts father in law who also happens to be a selector did not like the Idea of Imran being left out of World Cup squad and he also did not like how Afridi gets involved in selection process and that he (Afridi) was behind Fawad Alam being selected over the last year to play in the team.
So now Farahts father in law was trying to get Afridi removed as captain as a way of getting back at him. So this who series will be screwed up due to personal issues of Imran and his sussar.
They want afridi out the way before the world cup and this is their last chance to do something and Imrans sussar will try to coerce players into performing bad so Afridi gets the boot as a captain.
If we take our inspiration and guidance from the Holy Qur’an, the final victory, I once again say, will be ours… Do not be overwhelmed by the enormity of the task… You only have to develop the spirit of the Mujahids. You are a nation whose history is replete with people of wonderful character and heroism. Live up to your traditions and add to another chapter of glory. All I require of you now is that everyone… must vow to himself and be prepared to sacrifice his all… in building up Pakistan as a bulwark of Islam and as one of the greatest nations whose ideal is peace within and peace without… Islam enjoins on every Mussulman to give protection to his neighbors and to minorities regardless of caste and creed. I dont know why you guys are surprised when they are losing. With all the politics, in the management and on the field, you guys should be happy if we make it through one match.
Just boycott cricket yaar, watch football or something.
Its nice to see the selectors screwing up with Fawad by selecting him in T20s, when they know well that he's a test and OD player. And yes Farhat's FIL is on a personal agenda to screw Afridi up, even if it means it takes the whole team down, who gives a flying fish anyway.
Morons, no sense of professionalism. Only personal vandettas.

Think of Afghanistan and the first things to run through your mind would probably be war, Taliban, maybe Osama bin Laden. On a good day for the country's Ministry for Information and Culture, you might think of camels.
All things considered, any of these would not be an unreasonable take on the troubled and complicated nation.
But now, you can add the sport of cricket to your list. According to the Afghanistan Cricket Board, cricket is the fastest growing sport in the country with more than 70,000 male participants -- teams from Afghanistan's most unstable areas even participate in national tournaments.
And in a country where the Taliban once banned girls from attending school, today in Kabul more than 100 women play. This is potentially bigger than the baby step it might at first seem. A national women's team will compete at the 2011 Asian Elite Cup, a situation unthinkable under the Taliban.
"Cricket in Afghanistan is much more than a game," said Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal, ACB president. "It has become a source of pride for ordinary Afghans and an example of their resolve and determination. It is a tool that can contribute positively to peace and stability in our country."
Cricket's rise in Afghanistan has been rapid. It was played by the British during the 1800s but never flourished in the region as it did in India and what is now Pakistan. It was not until the Soviet Union's 1979 invasion of Afghanistan, when Afghan refugees flooded across the border into cricket-crazy Pakistan, that the sport was learned and loved.
Eventually returning home, the former refugees brought cricket with them. The sport has grown since the Taliban's overthrow, and its fledgling national team has climbed world rankings.
"In 2001, Afghanistan was the worst team in the world, and so trying to get to the World Cup eight years later was pretty remarkable," said Tim Albone, director of "Out of the Ashes," a film that documents the Afghan cricket team's journey across the world, from refugee camps in Pakistan to World Cup playoff matches in the United Kingdom.
"They had appalling conditions. They were as far away from the World Cup as you could get when we started following them [with a camera]."
Sam Mendes, the Oscar-winning director of "American Beauty" and "Revolutionary Road," boosted the film by coming on board the project as executive producer.
"These guys had nothing," Albone said. "When they went to their first tournament, they were struggling to find cricket balls. These are the first generation [of] Afghans who ever played. Now they are doing adverts for mobile phone companies, and national tournaments are being shown on television.
"I was amazed that no matter what was going on in their country, the team was focused on cricket. That being said, if there is a war in your country, of course it is more and more difficult to play cricket. But the game had the ability to take people's minds off their problems."
WHILE THE WRONG AND SHAME ENDURE.
TO BE WITHOUT SIGHT OR SENSE IS A MOST HAPPY CHANGE FOR ME,
THEREFORE DO NOT ROUSE ME. HUSH! SPEAK LOW.
I said to God "I hate Life" God replied "Who asked you to love life? Just Love me & life will be beautiful"
Living in favorable and unfavorable conditions is PART of living. Smiling in all those conditions is ART of living.
"Anytime you think you need to protect God, you can be sure you're worshiping an idol"
I've stopped fighting my inner demons. We're on the same side now.

I think Misbah would make a better catpain, but with the world cup so close I dont know if its good to have such a major change as it might cause a lot of friction. I just hope the ebst works out for Pak

Exactly my assessment so far. But what mkes it worse is that he doesnt listne to anyone!!He needs to be humbled or YK should take over.Butt and PCB dont like YK and tha is why they are playing a afridi vs misbah when YK is the obviou choice. Also, if he agrees to listen to other senior players,we mgh see a different.Ive also notiched how he prefers to bowl himself when there are other options....ugh!

Odds on favourites are:
Australia who've had a terrible time in tests lately, but still kickin butt in One Day matches and are still ranked No. 1
South Africa, considered TOP favourites to win the cup (but same as almost every other world cup, until they CHOKE
India, have home advantage and the best batting line up of all teams (but as always, are lacking in the FAST bowling department)
I wouldn't count out England either, and here's the history
1975 West Indies (runner up Australia)
1979 West Indies (runner up England)
1983 India (runner up West Indies)
1987 Australia (runner up England)
1992 Pakistan (runner up England)
1996 Sri Lanka (runner up Australia)
1999 Australia (runner up Pakistan)
2003 Australia (runner up India)
2007 Australia (runner up Sri Lanka)
2011 ????
Last 2 WC's have been disaster for Pakistan, hopefully this one goes good!

Kallis is a giant, and unlike ponting, a giant in form!
Amla is a batting giant in the making.
Duminy is awsome.
De villiers though out of touch recently is an outstanding batsmen.
And their captain smith is pretty good as well.
They have the best pace attack in the absence of asif/amir. support bowlers are good, and it remains to be seen how good tahir really is.
I know theres the choke label, but im cheering for this S.A. team.If its not Pk(its going to be really tough for us without bowling and a solid captain) i want it to be S.A.
Aussies are doing well, but i think the S.A. will make them toil.
Indian batting is good, but their bowling is probably the most impotent in the top 5.

lol but ya if Pak is not gonna win I would want S.A to win then. I mean can u imagine this line-up?
Smith
Amla
Kallis
Ab DeVilliers (as keeper)
Ingram
Duminy
Du Plessis
Steyn
Morne Morkel
Tahir
Tsotobe
they have all the highest run scorers and wicket takers from the last yr.

-So they fail to finish the ground construction/repairs in time(And you think the soon to be superpower would learn something from the Common wealth games). The ICC rightly takes away the match from Calcutta and then this is what we hear from BCCI:
-DONT BLAME US
-BCCI asks ICC to reconsider Calcutta
-The ball is in ICC's court

And even when chasing, after the platform Younis and Misbah gave u we should have won comfortably by 4 or 5 wickets, not squeak by at the end in a nail biter. I guess winning is better than nothing and i am happy that we won but Pak team really needs to become more professional like Australia and SA if we want any kind of success in the world cup.
