PESHAWAR: Addressing a news conference here, JUI-F chief Moulana Fazlur Rehman said Election Commission had failed to hold free and fair in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

PTI claimed rigging and showed evidence but where is the evidence of these stolen ballot boxes by PTI in KPK???

Yaara mota gaynda fazlu zaleel jo hua hay, ROYALLY zaleel aur ruswa hua hay.  Yanay kay kp may bhi, jo supposedly is motay ka guaranteed soobah tha, gaynday ko 20 seatain tak naa mileen.  His performance was dismal at best.  To goya motta kaheen na kaheen to blame dalay ga na.  drama to karna hay...

umm, just  a quick question; these elections determine the composition of the Parliament only or does it also change to composition of the Senate?

I wonder what sort of politcs and ineffectiveness would stem from a PML-N Parliment, a PTI, et al. opposition, and a predominantly PPP Senate?

The crap part is that senate is not elected by people but parliament through a ballot.

It should be part od general election where people chose both MNA and Senators.

i want to share some thoughts for next gov. pti makes kpk  gov  and wil make a good example of gov,  and people of Pakistan wil be impressed by it and pti wil enhance there chances in next election in al over Pakistan,

the new elected gov wil beg to get loans from start,  fom imf or who ever , because the KHAZANA Khali hai,

crunt situation of Pakistan they cant handle better then ppp thats for sure, situation wil nt change sooner,  pti wil be a supper oposition party,  

pti wil make sure they get people on street to demonstrat,  and the crunt gov wil nt survive more then 2 years,

next elections are expected in 2016,
and who knows by then people of Pakistan wil  DOBARAH deekh kar makhi khain ya phir they wil elect better people,

No, somebody mentioned to me the other day that you watch out that PML N are going to cancel Iran-Pakistan pipeline once they get into government.

Nawaz was asked question about it prior to the election and his response was we will see if it is in our national interest. WTF is he really blind not to see the energy shortfall.

But the reality was that he was warming up with USA and which you can see from his statements after wining the elections

PPPP guy is seeking to have result annulled for the seat won by Fazl as he is alleging that he (Faz) used religion to gain votes which is not allowed per the guide lines.

Now what was concerning was not the use of releigion but his (Fazl's) fatwa. where he apparent announced in Masjids and on loud speakers that if you dont vote for his party at the election than you will become a Kafir.

some one correct me on this, but this was the allegation by PPPP candidate.

Well he certainly said that voting for Imran Khan is a sin. One of his party's senior members was asked about the reasoning behind that fatwa of his against Imran Khan and after trying to dodge he said that it is a sin because Imran Khan has spoken against Fazlur Rehman who is a great Islamic scholar and anyone who speaks against great scholars Allah and His Rasul pbuh declare war against them (or something to that affect). I heard it myself on one of the shows.

I don't know if even Fazul ur Rehman believes his own fatwa. I hope he does not.

I am not sure about the Kafir thing though.

Kayani assures CEC of army support for re-polling

ISLAMABAD: Ahead of re-polling on some polling stations of NA-250 in Karachi, Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani assured Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G Ebrahim of the continuation of army’s full support.

A top level meeting between the COAS and CEC was held at General Head Quarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Thursday.

The army chief assured the CEC about the army’s support in the upcoming re-elections on different constituencies, particularly in some parts of Karachi where elections are to be conducted again due to problems the first time round.

A close aide of the CEC told The Express Tribune that Gen Kayani assured Ebrahim that the army will help facilitate fair, free and transparent elections.

Election on reserved seats for women in balance
Meanwhile, Secretary ECP, Ishtiaq Ahmad Khan told media persons that so far 110 complaints have been received by the commission in regards to poll rigging. A press release issued by the commission said that the secretary has drawn attention to a sub-clause of the Constitution of Pakistan, which mandates that the members to fill seats reserved for women which are allocated to a province shall be elected through Proportional Representation System of Political Parties’ lists of candidates on the basis of total number of general seats won by each political party from the province concerned in the National Assembly.

Sub-Clause (e) further provides that the members to fill seats reserved for non-Muslims shall be elected through Proportional Representation system of political parties list of candidates on the basis of total number of general seats owned by each political party in the National Assembly. The aforesaid provisions of the Constitution further provide that the total number of general seats shall include the independent returned candidate or candidates who may duly join such political party within three (3) days of the publication in the official Gazette of the names of the returned candidates.

The independent returned candidates are required to apply, after notification as returned candidates, to the leader of the political party for joining his party and the leader of the political party forthwith is required to inform the election commission of his joining through a letter to be delivered to the Election Commission in terms of sub-rule (5) of rule 3 of the national assembly and provincial assemblies allocation of reserved seats for women and non-Muslims (Procedure) Rules, 2002.

The Election Commission of Pakistan on Thursday announced fresh party positions in National Assembly in outcome of the 11th May polls.

The ECP issued results of 261 general seats on its website.

According to the ECP, results of two constituencies have been withheld, while re-polling would be held at some of the polling stations of the six National Assembly constituencies.

In National Assembly, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) emerged as the largest party with 124 seats, followed by Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) with 31 and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) with 27 seats.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) secured 18 seats while the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) got 10 National Assembly seats.

MQM to raise legal, constitutional challenge to ECP decision on NA-250 repolling

KARACHI: After the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) maintained its decision to hold re-elections in selected polling stations of NA-250 on Friday, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) said it was exploring legal and constitutional recourse on the matter.

MQM leader Wasay Jalil told the media at a press conference on Friday evening that the party leadership in London and Karachi was currently consulting legal and constitutional experts on the matter.

“The first session of consultations has ended and once we come to decision we will announce that.”
Jalil said that a decision is expected later on Friday.

Raza Haroon added that the matter was about the public’s right to vote and re-enforcing the faith in voting. “The ECP should have looked at the larger interest of   the people.”

“This  was a golden opportunity for the ECP to demonstrate to the people that while they could not conduct flawless elections everywhere, they could have conducted exemplary elections in NA-250.”

Of their consultations, Haroon said that they are currently looking at all options.

Earlier on Friday, the ECP had rejected the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) request to conduct re-polling in the entire constituency of NA-250 Karachi.

KARACHI: One hundred and seventy five thousand ballot papers and other necessary material will be made available for re-polling in 43 polling stations for NA-250 (Karachi) by Saturday evening, Geo News reported on Saturday.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said that they have changed the colours of the ballot papers for re-polling—for national assembly it is white and for the provincial assembly green.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a handout said that army would be deployed at the 43 polling stations of Karachi NA-250 in compliance with the notification of ECP.

As per the security plan, 3500 security personnel will discharge their duties. 22 policemen, eight to 10 Rangers officials and six to eight army personnel would be deployed at the each polling station.
40 polling stations are located in South Zone while other three are in East Zone out of total 43 polling stations.

300 policemen and 800 army and Rangers personnel would be deployed in the South Zone while 275 policemen and 100 army and Rangers soldiers would be deployed in the East Zone.
