Indian Americans rally to block F-16s sale to Pakistan

NEW DELHI: A group of prominent Indian Americans, led by noted physician Sudhir Parikh, are lobbying hard to block Washington's sale of F-16 combat aircraft to Pakistan, drawing support from a large Congressional caucus.

"Our contention is the sals of F-16s to Pakistan will escalate the arms race in South Asia. This goes against US interests in the region and the world at large," said the New Jersey-based asthma and allergy specialist and publisher, here to receive the Padma Shri from President Pratibha Patil.

"We feel it is also not advisable to sell these aircraft to Pakistan since the US wants a peaceful transition in Afghanistan where it counts both Pakistan and India as key allies," Parikh, who runs as many as 28 clinics in the US, told IANS in an interview.

"India today is a major growing power -- a super power in the making. I am sure the US sees India as an ally and will not seek to upset the Indian people," he said, adding this was the factor that helped clinch the US-India civilian nuclear deal.

Parikh said representation has already been made to the bi-partisan India caucus, which is the largest country-specific pressure group in the US Congress with 172 members from both the US Senate and the House of Representatives.

Parikh, co-founder of the Indian American Political Forum and publisher of four Indian newspapers in the US, said the India Caucus has warned the Barack Obama administration that sale of these aircraft to Pakistan, that can deliver nuclear weapons, will send rather ominous signals.

The Caucus believes that the deliveries of F-16s, manufactured by Lockheed Martin, will send a clear message to the Government of India that the US administration has made its strategic choice in South Asia -- and that choice is Pakistan.

Co-chaired by Washington-Democrat Jim McDermott and California-Republican Ed Royce, the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans, as it is formally called, is a powerful forum that advances the country's interests in the US polity.

Even though there is no official communication, a recent report in The New York Times cited administration officials as saying Pakistan was likely to get swifter deliveries of F-16s, naval frigates and remotely piloted aircraft for surveillance missions.
Similar reports from Islamabad suggest the US has cleared the supply of high-tech laser-guided bomb kits, surveillance drones and F-16 fighters to enhance Pakistan military's capability against the Taliban and Al Qaeda in the restive tribal areas along its border with Afghanistan.

Please accept my condolences as you bhindians have lost the balls somewhere, come to think of it you never had em, no wonder you worship everything and anything! Idol worshipping and manliness don't go hand in hand.

It is not that.

Do you think that the few odd F-16s being acquired is that much of a bother to the Indians in the face of their massive acquisitions.

The point which they know and playing is that of lobby building,managing image and perception.
Using the media and trying to influence opinion and keep on hammering an anti-Pakistan image.

Those who do not realise the importance of such things are living in a fools paradise.

What has the Pakistani lobby or diaspora or democratic leaders ever done to get any US help or concession on Kashmir or Pakistan-India relations.

Let there be no illusion that whatever help pak is getting from USA is due to US compulsions in Afghanistan.

The day that goes,there is going to be a very different US for Pakistan.

the f-16s that the indians are getting are much more advanced than the F-16s that the PAF is getting. The indian f-16s will have a very advanced AESA radar that will be integrated with the pilot ejection seat to eject as soon as it sees the PAF on the radar screen. You think the U.S. cares that much abt what physician Parikh has to say???its not indian efforts that are projecting indias image,its AMERICAN POLICY SHIFT,its as simple as that.

Wow, 200 sukhoi, mirages and god knows what else and they are fretting abt out 30 odd f-16s...this truly is the height of cowardice.

They (the enemy, indians) steal your water and deprive you (Pakistanis) agricultural gains. They (the enemy, indians) open up 26 consular offices in Afghanistan and heavily fund terrorists in your country, killing you (Pakistanis). They (the enemy, indians) run massive sabotage campigns in foreign media (CNN, BBC, SKY, FOX) to malign your (Pakistanis) image as terrorists in world. They (the enemy, indians) resort to any length in order to block your (Pakistani) military sales from countries like America, France and Britain. They (the enemy, indians) churn out movies about hate against you (Pakistanis), degrading you in every possible way. They (the enemy, indians) snatch away your identity in Britain by forcing the Brits to catagorize you (Pakistanis) as Asians, a term used in Britain only for indians, bengalis, nepalis, buttanis, Sri Lankans and not the rest of the Asian Continent.

And yet ....... you (Pakistanis) watch their movies like a bunch of yuppies. You (Pakistanis) allow your government to do trade and also do it yourself with them (the enemy, indians). You (Pakistanis) would sit and watch your government allow a trade route b/w them (the enemy, indians) and Afghanistan, so that more of your people get slaughtered by indian funded terrorists. You (Pakistanis) would worship their (the enemy, indians) film stars and dance to their music. You (Pakistanis) would allow your own local channels to air their movies and programs that you may watch them. You (Pakistanis) have forgotten how your ancestors fought and bled for the creation of Pakistan, while they (the enemy, indians) slaughtered all those Muslims who were migrating to their new home, Pakistan. You (Pakistanis) are like lost souls, with no sense of pride in who you are (Muslim first, then Pakistani) and are growing weaker and weaker in Imaan (Faith).

When will you (Pakistanis) wake up to the reality that we are Muslims, that Allah Subhanaho Wata'aalah granted us our freedom when HE blessed with Pakistan? When will you realize that what is larger than yourself, your ego, your desires and your own blood, is the state of Imaan as a Muslim. When will you (Pakistanis) realize that whose Ummah you belong to (of Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihi Wassallam), He use to pray every night, in the Kaabah, weeping and pleading with Allah Subhanaho Wata'aalah for the forgiveness and the mercy of Allah for His Ummah. And while He (Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihi Wassallam) did that, you (Pakistanis) keep allowing people like zardari rule you, keep watching indian movies and worshipping their film stars. While they (the enemy, indians), destroy you bit by bit till WE ARE VANQUISHED FROM EXISTANCE.

To the 180million Pakistanis, I ask you as your fellow Muslim brother, as your fellow Countryman, as one who yearns for the day when Pakistanis shall rise to hold up the banner of Islam. WHEN WILL YOU (PAKISTANIS), WAKE UP!

Brother, you're talking to a brick wall. It pains me to admit, but there is no future in sight. I see hypocrisy around me. People with no dignity, honour and identity. It's indeed a lost cause. Just don't expect anything and you'll be better off. The only conclusion is that we have failed terribly. The result of failure is starkly visible. Our ancestors had a noble dream. We've destroyed those dreams. I now know that the people are the most guilty of all.

No country is perfect. But unlike Indians, we can appreciate constructive criticism of our country and we will aim to look at issues from all possible perspectives. We know the state of that shithole country called India, and how can anyone say that living conditions for Kashmiris, South Indian Muslims, Farmers (Maoists), Naxalites, Assamese, Dalits, Sikhs etc are better??
Fair enough we need to improve tons of things, but a pessimistic approach does no good. It would be a lot more constructive to put forward solutions or thought provoking ideas rather than the doomdays predictions people on this forum are so good at.

As for the dipfucks protesting in America, all I can say is these people are as repulsive as one can get. The hate and desperation in their minds will not harm us as much as our pessimism. Besides, this kind of shit has been proven to lead to brain tumours.

The Indian inflated sense of self-importance defies decency. FFS, they are actually "warning" Obama. How long will Americans put up with this?? The situation we have here is called a powder keg. Its when tension keeps building and building due to certain people thinking their hateful actions have no consequences. I have no doubt that their time will come, so I urge everyone to keep a cool head and continue the uphill struggle our people have always been known for. Brother, my comments are based on being on the ground and witnessing things first hand. The majority of people in Pakistan are oblivious to the reality. They take things for granted. Additionally, you hear a lot of criticism towards India yet people adopt their ways. People which are a victim have become lethargic in their everyday life. That's the reason why people don't protest and speak up against injustice. This isn't pessimism or painting doomsday scenarios. This is the dire reality. Unless the majority of the people decide their own fate we'll continue to witness injustice and inequality in Pakistan. The elite will continue to loot and exploit the lethargic masses. Peoples have always created their own destiny in times of tyranny. History teaches us this. I don't fear a bunch of malnourished Indians protesting against F-16 sale. I fear my people which are lost and out of touch with the reality. Brother Dizasta has genuine concerns. Pakistanis need to rediscover their lost identity.

i see hopelessness in ppl as well, but it has more to do with failures from previoous attempts rather than some inherent bayghairati...the problem is that every sincere public outcry or action is hijacked by political parties, guided by our establishment and godforbid if a true patriot comes in the picture, they are sidelined,ridiculed and removed. These ppl lack sincere leadership, the need of the hours is leadership to channel this energy...righ tnow its all chaos because its pulling in different direction. it just needs to be harnessed.

Ppl dont trust any politician anymore...all of the so called leaders are tainted, every person has some short coming...we need someone who is well rounded enough to appeal to everyone at the same time,resourceful enough to keep the traditional luterays at bay and unite ppl.
This person cant be too conservative yet must have religious knowledge, educated yet traditional, resourceful but with a clean slate, and above all sincere and has the right direction in mind...those are the qualities, now someone jst needs to stand up!

^^ You saw Kyrgyzstan yesterday. When the bubble bursts people take the law into their own hands. Don't you think that the same should have happened a long time ago in Pakistan? What else should happen before the people decide that enough is enough?

To my friends and brothers who say that there is no hope, who say that "You're talking to a brick wall". To all Pakistanis, the reason why I still yearn for the day that Pakistanis (as Muslims) shall rise to vanquish the fitnas, munafiqs and sins from our country. It is because we have the capacity to do so, we have the ability and the strength to accomplish this. How? Well the answer is very simple, yet daunting. And that is the resurrection of the Imaan of Pakistanis. The only catalyst that would allow us, as Pakistanis, to assemble us, direct us and put focus in us toward destroying evil in our midst, is when we abandon our ego, our desires, our lust for this world by following the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihi Wassallam.

I am not talking about wearing a green turban, keeping a beard and pulling up your pajamas above your ankles. I am talking about engaging your physical being with your Ruh 'Spirit', by intensifying your focus on Salah (Prayer), Zikr (Rememberance of Allah) and allowing your Firaasah (spiritual eye) to open wide. When you start this process, you do not disengage with the world around you, rather you reverse the process of the world influencing you, with allowing your state of Imaan to influence your personal being. It is what you, me and every other Muslim should wage the struggle toward. If there is any Jihad to be fought at the present moment in this world, it is the Jihad to attain powerful Imaan. You cannot hope to acheive this, by detaching yourself from this world, rather by absolute resolve in strengthening your Imaan through Salah, Zikr and Firaasah, in turn eliminating the influence of fitna in our society that we live in.

When you live in this society and you live according to the Sunnah of Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihi Wassallam. You create a vibration, a charged energy, positive energy, by conforming to the regulation ordained by Allah Subhanaho Wata'aalah. The intensity of Truth, would automatically start destroying falsehood and that happens via the exposure of lies, deciet of imposters coming out in plain view. This is the begining of the decade where the battle between the forces Haq (Truth) and the forces of Batil (Falsehood) has commenced in Pakistan, on the spiritual level. The previous decade was fought on the mortal level, which was mustering strength in numbers (of humans). Don't be under any illusions, that you stand on the side of Haq, for if you evaluate your being through the Sunnah of Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihi Wassallam, you would find yourself desperately clinging to the hope that you would be spared.

Pakistan has become the last battle ground where Haq and Batil are fighting, before the advent of Imam-ul-Mahdi and the rise of the Black Flag Army from Khurasaan. Make no mistake, there will be indiscriminate slaughter of Munafiqs, Kafirs and Mulhids. So whether you are the son of some minister, or the judge of supreme court, or the president. No one shall be spared. You have to raise your Imaan, you have to establish Salah, you have to intensify Zikr and then allow your Firaasah to show you the truth. This process ensures that your ego is destroyed, your desires are cut-off, your person is no longer existant and your being conforms to the Huqum (Commands of Allah), the Sunnah of the Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi Wassallam) and Huqooq-ul-Ibaad (duties toward your fellow Muslim).

I now know that the people are the most guilty of all.

bro,

you come across as a real pessimist. You are expecting a people with little or no education or information to suddenly think as you do. It takes time to build up such knowledge and an army of people to use it. Its easy to talk about the failure of others, which leads to the question what have you personally done for your country? each of us should ask this question of ourselves.

I think Pakistan has a bright future ahead as a growing developing country, within the next decade according to Goldman Sachs it will emerge as one of the power houses of the emerging markets. The future is bright, the future is green. (IMG:style_emoticons/PDFEmotionIconsv10/PakistanFlag.gif)

India-US and A connection !

Why are you not afraid of India’s nuclear weapons?” the official asked. “Because India is your friend, and the longtime policies of America and India converge. Between you and the Indians, you will ###### us in every way. The truth is that our weapons are less of a problem for the Obama Administration than finding a respectable way out of Afghanistan.”

That's true brother. I'm quite pessimistic with the public attitude in Pakistan. I don't expect them to think or act like me. I also understand that to a certain extent education forms an obstacle. Nonetheless, at the very least I expect the victimized masses to stand up firmly and voice their discontent loud and clear. That isn't happening and I sense a lethargic approach. Every Pakistani fully understands the injustice being inflicted on the middle and the poorer segment of the society. It isn't rocket science.

The answer to your second question is that I don't reside in Pakistan. I was born and bred abroad, but have Pakistani roots. Obviously, in such circumstances there's very little I can achieve effectively. I consider myself Pakistani first though. That's the reason for my genuine feelings towards Pakistan. My criticism isn't meant to denigrate anyone. The criticism is based on analysis and actual ground realities. My outspoken feeling is that the masses need to take a solid stance against injustice. That's a God given right of any human being.

I've never denied the potential of Pakistan. You can read my previous posts on PDF regarding the potential that Pakistan possesses in order to succeed. The future can only be bright and green if the people of Pakistan desire it to be so. In my humble opinion, the people of Pakistan will have to take a clear stance and elect the right sort of people that can turn the green and bright future dream into a reality. I don't like to think of myself as a pessimist but rather a realist. I'm as eager and wishful as any patriotic Pakistani to see Pakistan prosper and develop.

For everything there is a season,
And a time for every matter under heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die;
A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to seek, and a time to lose;
A time to keep, and a time to throw away;
A time to tear, and a time to sew;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate,
A time for war, and a time for peace.

^^ You saw Kyrgyzstan yesterday. When the bubble bursts people take the law into their own hands. Don't you think that the same should have happened a long time ago in Pakistan? What else should happen before the people decide that enough is enough?

I agree man, we need a civil war reay badly. Kill those bastards who took advantage of us and stole the money that rightfully belongs to people of Pakistan. Inshallah one day a great Muslim will come n put khilafah in place and will make Pakistan what it should be.
