i have a question ...
what is g
i mean when we say f-16 can attain 9g's
fc-1 can attain 8g's
n aim-120 can attain 100g's
i think its related to maneuverable. if it is then how does it work

a unit of force equal to the force exerted by gravity; used to indicate the force to which a body is subjected when it is accelerated....
As far as i know a human body can't go beyond 10g's....
Modren ACs like F-22 and specialy euro fighter which has more monovarablity at high speeds then any AC known are able to go beyond 10g's with pilots having specealy designed suits to countre g-forces but again the human body restrictions comes as no human can sestain that kind of g forces(beyond 10gs)...
As the world progresses ahead in technlology we have to find new selutions to counter g-forces with out that the F-22 or euro fighters will probably be the only and last ACs with high monovarability we can't go beyond what F22 or euro fighter will achieve they are the limits of human body not the limits of technlology..
if we have to go beyond 10-gs then we have to get the pilot out of the AC and let it fly it self I mean pilot less ACs...
So the future ACs will be pilot less and that is not possible in the near future atleast to make such an aircraft that will do the job of F-22 with out a pilot in it.May be in the far future say 2050's heheheh....
So F-22 and euro fighters will be the last and most monovarable ACs that a human has created for his self enjoy...
beyond it there are limits of human body and then the era of pilot less ACs will begin(I am not talking about drons they are low speed ACs) i am talking about an AC that will do some think like F-22 can to ....

I have a Q about the Euro fighter,
The Eurofighter 2000, or Eurofighter Typhoon as it's now known is a multinational effort by a number of European nations to produce a leading edge fighter aircraft for the next century.

The project has been dogged by political problems from the start which in turn have played a significant role in its delayed service entry date. Originally scheduled to enter service in the late 80's the first fighter is now scheduled to fly before the end of 2001.

Given the changing world situation and the availability of excellent cheap Russian aircraft, the Typhoon cannot arrive at a better time. And whatever it's critics may suggest the aircraft is anything but a failure.
so some one can tell me that?
which russian AC is compairable to euro fighter or better then it...Su-30,35 or 37 which of these are compairable to th EFighter AC..thanx

Jimmy, here is an article on conformal fuel tanks relating to the F-16's. I don't think i can describe it better......enjoy.

Block52/60 F-16 aircraft, currently procured for Israel, Greece and the UAE, have structural, plumbing, and wiring provisions for the Conformal Fuel Tanks (CFT). These external, pod-like fuel reservoirs are attached on the upper surface of the F-16’s fuselage, with the tank’s lower surface conforming to the aircraft shape. The upper surface arrangement allows the CFTs to be relatively light weight because nothing is suspended from them. With an empty weight of 900 pounds, tank set holds 450 gallons (ca. 3,050 pounds, or 2,271 litres) of additional JP-5/8 fuel.
The extra fuel increases range, loiter time, and combat persistence as well as reduces the demand for tanker support. Range increase is on the order of twenty to forty percent, depending on the stores configuration and mission profile. The tanks have neglible effect on the aircraft agility, at subsonic speed, However, at supersonic speed, the drag is increased proportionally to the increase in speed. When fitted with CFT the aircraft retains almost the full handling qualities, flight limits, and signature. A complete set can be removed or replaced within two hours. The CFTs are built to Lockheed Martin's specification, by IAI as a sole source, as part of the Peace Marble V program offsets.

“The CFTs have very little adverse effect on the F-16’s renowned performance,” said Maj. Timothy S. McDonald, U.S. Air Force project pilot for CFT testing at Eglin. “A set of CFTs carries 50 percent more fuel than the centerline external fuel tank, but has only 12 percent of the drag.” The CFTs are designed for the full F-16 flight envelope – up to 9 g’s, maximum angle of attack and sideslip and maximum roll rate.

Israel, for example placed a special significance to the operational flexibility of its new F-16I, derived from the added range and endurance provided by the CFT. For medium range air-to-surface missions, CFTs can eliminate the need for wing tanks. This allows doubling the F-16’s primary weapon capacity and flying with two, rather than one, types of large weapons in a balanced configuration. In long range missions, the use of CFT dramatically increases the operational radius of the aircraft, since it enables the aircraft to fly a long range strike mission, with full weapon's load, and engage in air combat when external (370 Gal) fuel tanks are dropped.  When external 370 gal jetissonable tanks or 600gal non-jetissonable external tanks are added the F-16 can demonstrate up to 60-70 percent increase in operational radius. Another Israeli development utilizes a new fuel carrying configuration for the F-16, which enables the carrying of up to four 370 gallon external tanks, plus one 300 gallon under the belly, resulting in 25% increase in mission radius and twice the endurance on patrol missions

FC-1 and JF-17 are same. FC-1 is China's designation and JF-17 is name given by PAF.

J-10 is a whole new and very advanced jet.

Common thing in both products are that they are made by CAC.

4 decades ago, they said Sabres and Farmers wouldn't be able to "handle" MiG-21s. Do some googling on IAF vs. PAF, and u'll see what happened. Then u decide, what could happen with JF-17 vs. Su-30MKI.

Personally, I dont recommend aircraft vs. aircraft analysis, because such analysis yields results that are almost negligible because there is one important factor - the man behind the gun.

Real combat often lead to different results, there can be so many things involved in a fight between the JF-17 and SU-30MKI, that the JF-17 could beat MKI or MKI could beat JF-17.  Technically (according to the specs) the MKI is superior to the JF-17, but a Korean War-Era fighter took out a Vietnam era Mach-2 fighter, so don't rely on specs all the time.

MKI have advantage on Radar and weapon in number

but this is about first kill, in one to one senario, who take the first hit will lose

If the SD-10 in service, it have longer range than R-77, so even the JF-17 have disadvantage in radar detection range, but still can fire the first shot.

But the JF-17 need to score a kill with it only 2 BVR, other wise, the JF-17 need avoid 6 BVR before going into WVR engagement and mostly unlikely it can avoid all 6 BVR

Radars working in look down mode are susceptible to ground clutter (uneven features on ground) that may produce false alarms on the scope. AWG-9 radar was one of the first radars to feature a signal processor to filter the return. Now radars have digital signal processors to filter targets.

arnt radars like that used to make 3d tarin maps?? and what abt one used on tomahawk that uses dround reading to process its path ahead and by crossrefig it with previus data it knows where it is.

Not exactly false warning...it can also work as a concealing agent for low fliers.

3D terrain maps are made using different radars.

We are talking of air-air radars on a fighter that is flying above the target and has to look down on the target.

Data-correlation technique u r talking about is a different thing.

I have a three pronged question ?

1) Do we know if J-10 has been evaluated yet ? PAF were supposed to send pilots across to China to evaluate this aircraft. Any updates on this yet ?

2) What's the latest on Erieye? How far are we from signing a deal for this ?

3) Any news on potential Gripen purchase ? Has Swedish Defence delegation made any recommendations to Swedish government after their recent Pakistan visit ?
