since the Pakistan army is advancing in technology nowadays with things like the alkhalid and more, i think we should increase our artillery numbers and get newer and better ones. things with ranges like 70km+. wut do yall think? any suggestions?

the difference between pak and indian army is
pak army doesnt tell much of what it has, and the indian army declares what it even intends to purchase
whats the range of those 203mm pieces btw?

I want Pakistan to get the latest from China. Pakistan really needs an overhaul in that part of the force.

Yeah, better artillery is what we need. Athlough artillery is perhaps the longest lived pieces of military hardware. Rockets are the future, but nothing like sustained cannon fire to slow an enemy's advance or lay seige to a base.
As someone pointed out earlier on this thread, we now need to concentrate on developing or atleast license building a good robust artillery system, it should be fairly new so it can last us atleast another 70 or so years, which is not un-common for artillery pieces. We should get the Canadian guy who designed the excellent guns for South Africa to design one for us based on our requirements. Does anyone know his name? I'm sorry but I can't seem to recall it right now. But the only 2 things the allies feared in the Gulf war were Iraq's South African guns and the Su-24, the guns were easily destroyed as there was no air cover and the Su-24's fled to neighbouring Iran, which now has inducted them into her airforce.

The sound of silence is deafening.

KRL already working on it, we will have our own pak made and kick ass advance artillery in 2004-5.
Walk away if you want to
it's ok, if you need to
you can run, but you can never hide
From the shadow that's creeping up beside you
There's a magic running through your soul
But you can't have it all

How would u upgrade a artillery? Secondly we have fine artilleries. Our Howtizers, normally 115 I believe, are fine. A increase in calibre, say to 150mm, is by no means impossible,
but it seems unlikely at the moment. A gun with 150 mm will exert a
very large recoil force and would need to me mounted on a very large
tank. Remember that according to third law of gravity; the force
exerted outward by the propellant on the shell will be the same as
the force exerted inward by the propellant of the shell.
I happen to know a equation that determines the average recoil
force(F) in a tank.
Here it is:-
F= (wp.vp+wc.vc)^2 divided by 2.g.wg.L
Where wp = weight of projectile (lb), wc= weight of propellant (lb),
wg= weight of recoiling mass of the gun (lb), vp = muzzle velocity
of projectile (ft/sec), vc = escape velocity of propellant gases
(ft/sec), L = length of recoil (ft) and g= acceleration due to
gravity (9.8 m/s^2 or 32 ft/sec^2).
Lets take Al-Khalid tank for example. It has a 125 mm gun, and its
wp=50lb,vp=3,500 ft/sec(1,067 m/sec), wc=29.5 lb (13.38), vc =4,700
ft/sec9a.433m/sec), wg= 6,400 lb (2,903kg) and L= 1 ft (0.30M). Lets
use it into the equation :-
F = (50 x 3,500+29.5 x 4,700)^2 / 2 x 32 x 6,400 x 1
= 240, 177/2,240
= 107.2 tons
So the recoild force back on the crew will be 107.2 tons!

We have a good number of Chinese and American made artillary pieces. We're fine right now. We even are on the verge of deploying our own Fire Finder.
Man's dearest possession is his life, and since it is given to him to live but once, he must so live as not to be scared with the shame of a cowardly and trivial past, so live as not to be tortured for years without purpose that dying he can say, 'All my life and my strength were given to the first cause in the world - the liberation of mankind.'
