for god sake no shoaib malik plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Though your rest of post is right on spot. And personally I dont Moh. Yousaf should be captain. let him play freely as batsman. If he wants to be captain then yeah sure but then the coaches should have a regular feed of strategy making decisions. He is somewhat defensive captain.

we cant learn from austrailia........ if we want to do that then first we have to bring in players with high averages and correct technique............ and we cant do that without letting go of our bhateeja bhanja etc.

Salman Butt is a good choice for captain I think, he's been our most consistent performer (even during the tour of Australia) and he has been captain of his lahore domestic team for a while. BUT FOR GOD'S SAKE I hope he retains the captaincy for atleast 2-3 yrs, we can't keep changing captains every 6 months

I have said it 100 times before, Pakistan already has a GOOD domestic structure, we have enough good players to make 2 different teams that can be world champions, it is out PATHETIC and Nepotistic selection committe that prevents this. We have tons and tons of players who average 50+ runs in domestic cricket like Fawad Alam, Naved Yasin, Saeed Bin Nasir, Azeem Ghunman but for some Only God Knows what reason we pick players like Umar Amin, Imran Farhat etc who barely average 40 in domestic cricket.

After much hardship and frustration we finally got rid of $hit players like Faisal Iqbal, Mohammed Hafeez and Misbah Ul Haq and I was so excited that finally we might get to see those other talented people play only to see that we replaced crap with MORE CRAP! While people like Imran Farhat are still in the side because of his father in law.

Ijaz Butt and the entire PCB should be disbanded and replaced by a committe of legendary players like Wasim Akram, Zaheer Abbas etc instead of idiots like Yarwar Saeed and

As to why only certain parchee players get a chance while other talented players are pikced, its all politics and corruption. Big guns like Imran and Wasim hand picked talent that they saw in the domestic circuit, that tradition seems to have been lost...none of these captain are that level, or maybe they just go out that more. Or same as in all other areas of our society, safarish has become a serious problem in cricket...these players make ALOT of money, each match has a fee, so pushing players like Imran Farhat thru is all abt he money. 5 yrs here and he will make more than a normal peson does in their life time!a category B contract is what, 70,000USD?and then theres a match fee for every outing...throw in the odd sponsorship, even for the crappy players and you can see how its a whole lot of money!

Read my post before talking. I did not compare the batting performances of two. I just stated a fact. And its been well proven over many tours now. just like afridi, he is a compulsive hooker and flirts with wide ball on off. And has got himself out hundred times. Ausies, england and south africa, all have recently used the same thing to get him out many times. Just like afridi cannot control himself, he cannot control himself either. Any specialized permanent batsman in Pakistan side, has a better odi average then younis khan who has played 202 odi......... does that tell you something. Again any permanent full time batsman.

yes he is better test player but then again if no one wants to play under him, what you gonna do. If a leader doesnt line up his soldiers properly then the fault is not counted of soldier. Its called poor leadership. That is why imran khan is the better captain than miandad even though miandad was much more smarter technician than imran khan.

It has nothing to do with the individual performance. Even miandad cant come close to inzamam ul haq when it comes to individual performance as a captain.

You dont need to defend younis khan. His record speaks for himself. Numbers do not lie. He is great test player and bad odi player unless u consider 32 average as good. is he good player to have as simple batsman maybe but not definitely in this situation which we have now.

Reality is that he is bad odi player and if the excuse for invitation is to get a player for WC then there are better contenders e.g. yasir hameed or yousif. both have better and much much much better average than younis respectively.

And if the excuse is to win the tests then buddy, wouldnt you rather get players, who will be in WC ODI, to play tests and get some experience or you wanna get a player who shouldnt represent Pakistan in odi to begin with if considered the performance.

Azhar ali and umar amin, both look promising. lets give them some chance and put yasir hameed in the mix, dump out farhat and lets see how good the match goes.


There is time for being a hero..................... younis khan's time has gone. Unlike inzimam, yousif, waqar or saeed anwar, Younis doesnt really have that big of record that demands to bent every other thing so he can be accommodated.

I know it is hard to swallow but the reality is that the players who are only king of one format, dont last long. Unfortunate for younis that he is good test player, a format from which he retired himself. And in today world of two limited over formats, he has no place. I dont say it. His average of 32 says it.

Any ways. He retired from test when he was in team. so i dont see any reason that he will be invited to lead the team.

Adolf Hitler wanted to use cricket to train troops for war after he was taught the game's rules by British troops, a new book has disclosed.


The future leader of Nazi Germany was taught the basics of the game by First World War POWs, BBC broadcaster John Simpson found.

But according to his new book about 20th century reporting, the corporation’s World Affairs Editor discovered the Fuhrer later became frustrated with the game’s complex rules and tried to rewrite the game’s laws.

He had “advocated the withdrawal of the use of pads” because the “artificial bolsters” were “unmanly and un-German”.

His claims are based on a report in the Daily Mirror newspaper that appeared in 1930, during the Nazis’ rise to power and written by Oliver Locker-Lampson, a British right-wing MP and Nazi sympathiser.

According to the decorated war veteran and Hitler admirer, who was the founder of the Sentinels of Empire, a group dedicated to fighting Bolshevism, the Fuhrer thought cricket would be a perfect preparation for war.

“He desired to study it as a possible medium for the training of troops off duty and in times of peace,” Mr Locker-Lampson wrote in his article, under the headline “Adolf Hitler As I Know Him”.

The story, published on September 30, 1930, detailed the Fuhrer’s fateful encounter with cricket seven years earlier.

According to Mr Simpon’s book, titled Unreliable Sources: How the 20th Century was Reported, shortly after the Munich putsch in 1923, Mr Locker-Lampson met several British officers who had been POWs during the First World War.

Hitler, then lance corporal in the German Army, was coincidentally recovering from his wounds in a nearby hospital, The Times reported.

Hitler, twice decorated with the Iron Cross for bravery in World War I, had been wounded twice after he was shot in the groin and temporarily blinded by mustard gas.

“He had come to them one day and asked whether he might watch an eleven of cricket at play so as to become initiated into the mysteries of our national game,” Mr Locker-Lampson wrote.

“They welcomed him, of course, and wrote out the rules for him in the best British sport-loving spirit.”

Hitler then returned with his own team and challenged the British to a “friendly match” although the article fails to say who won the match.

Immediately after the end of the match, Hitler declared the game “insufficiently violent” for German Fascists.

“He had conned over (sic) the laws of cricket, which he considered good enough no doubt for pleasure-loving English people,” wrote Mr Locker-Lampson.

“But he proposed entirely altering them for the serious-minded Teuton.”

There was speculation that due to his contempt of the game, Hitler was dismissed for a “golden duck”, although this has never been confirmed.

Experts say that because the game never caught in Nazi Germany, it was safe to assume that Hitler’s team also lost the match.

I never said Younis wasnt a good player, i think hes a very good player.If he has problem with 7 players, that says alot abt his managing skills,it means he might be a good batsman but not a good leader.The captain needs to earn the respect of his players. His bad luck is that the rise of tension in the team during his time coincided with his own personal performance going donw as well!his avg. duringhis last yr fell as well.Also,i think he cries way too much, he cant take pressure, when he was criticized by ppl after losing a series(which in Pakistan is fashion and any capitan should be prepared for that) he would hand in his resignation and then expect the board to beg him back into the team...it worked 2 or 3 times, but then it started looking retarded.You can say Yusuf was treated bad just like Younis...yusuf was also treated bad after his captaincy stint but his own batting performance has been really steady and there was no reason to kick him ...i dont hear miandad crying abt him-why his talents are being wasted even though he had a press conference about younis?its interesting you list those players who you think were treated badly and then throw in Shoaib malik to cover it up No one likes malik ,i think hes a very average player and was brought in to be naseems ashrafs chamcha.

Afridi might not have the temprament as a test batsmen, but he was kinda forced into the position, he is very honest about it. Also,i think he was unlucky in the sense that the batting order he got was pretty much destined to fail...imagine if he had the two Ys and instaead of Imran Fart they had yasir hameed, results cud have been way different! One plus about afridi is his relationship with the players, he gets along with everyone, united the team and most of the team respects him.

Basit Ali played 50 ODIs from 1993 to 1996. Basit Ali was a successful ODI cricketer, in November 1993 he scored the then second fastest One Day International century in history, with a 67 ball effort against the West Indies at Sharjah. He was 5 runs short of the record of Mohammad Azharuddin and finished on 127 not out.

At one time holding the record for most hundreds in a Karchi zonal league season.Ali and Rashid Latif accused Pakistani players of match-fixing as well as facing allegations against themselves.

well as i said...... he was the whistle blower. Now i am not sure if you are defending his talent here or not, but if you are then you are missing the point. He was in very very bad form for a very very long time. That justifies his end. Just like it justifies younis khan end in ODI.

Meri jaan baat suno. Players are treated very badly often by the PCB, but its because the selectors or the chairman has their own bias, or someone has a strong backing, or some big ex-player's safarish.

I'll give you examples of those.

Faisal had Miandads backing and safarish, and after quite a few chances he never capitalized on the 100 he made in karachi...he has been given many chances and FINALLY dropped this yr.No one should complain because he was given more than enough chances.
Imran nazir first broke thru when he was 18, played for abt a yr and then was kicked out for almost 3-4 yrs...he was only brought back briefly 2 yrs ago because we were running out of options AND he performed really well in domestic that yr....gave him a few chances, he failed and he is out.
Imran Fart, i hate him, has no class...but just like Faisal(they have comparable avg, fargat a little better than faisal) we will have see farhats stupid face as long as susar ji is a selector:(...its sad but thats what happens.

Fawad Alam still should be gven a chance, he blew some chances but mostly he was misused.
Asim kamal is old, 34 yrs old!!!!

it has nothing to do with which city these players come from, its abt pcbs attitude, favoritism and safarish. faisal iqbal was in the time as long as miandad had a pull, younish was persisted for almost 100 matchses before he matured but you also have players who were better but were dumped in 5-20 bad performances(basit ali, mohd. wasim) and others who were dumped on 2-5 bad performance(yasir hameed).Its not abt being anti-khi, there are khi players in the team still....miandad and rashid use these cheap tactics to keep their academies and their local tournaments going, since they make alot of money from these tournaments and partly because miandad has always been a bad ex-player like sarfraz nawaz, stirring up controversies.You dont see this from ramiz raja,saeed anwar or inzi even...they dont give controversial statments.

Yaar i think its only partly the pitch, and most of its the extreme talent we have...asif seems to be making the ball talk today like he did in lanka.And to be honest, in the first test some really crapy umpiring hurt us...rudi koertsen let clarke off today as well, but they got him soon after that.I think last match katich was out twice really early and wasnt given, and went onto to make huge scores, making the whole difference...
