Fazl rejects PTI mandate in KP, to hold protests rallies
Says ECP failed to hold fair polls as results were tempered in several Pakhtunkhwa constituencies.
PESHAWAR: Addressing a news conference here, JUI-F chief Moulana Fazlur Rehman said Election Commission had failed to hold free and fair in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said gross irregularities were observed in various constituencies and results were tempered at other places.
“We do not accept the victory of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and will hold protest rallies across KP against the rigged election results.
Fazl alleged that ballot boxes were stolen in many constituencies.
http://dunyanews.tv/...hold-protests-r.
Seriously??? does he not hold fear that one day he has to return to his creator and be answerable to him for his action given?
PTI claimed rigging and showed evidence but where is the evidence of these stolen ballot boxes by PTI in KPK???
If we take our inspiration and guidance from the Holy Qur’an, the final victory, I once again say, will be ours… Do not be overwhelmed by the enormity of the task… You only have to develop the spirit of the Mujahids. You are a nation whose history is replete with people of wonderful character and heroism. Live up to your traditions and add to another chapter of glory. All I require of you now is that everyone… must vow to himself and be prepared to sacrifice his all… in building up Pakistan as a bulwark of Islam and as one of the greatest nations whose ideal is peace within and peace without… Islam enjoins on every Mussulman to give protection to his neighbors and to minorities regardless of caste and creed. I wonder what sort of politcs and ineffectiveness would stem from a PML-N Parliment, a PTI, et al. opposition, and a predominantly PPP Senate?

umm, just a quick question; these elections determine the composition of the Parliament only or does it also change to composition of the Senate?
I wonder what sort of politcs and ineffectiveness would stem from a PML-N Parliment, a PTI, et al. opposition, and a predominantly PPP Senate?
The crap part is that senate is not elected by people but parliament through a ballot.
It should be part od general election where people chose both MNA and Senators.

Peepeepee to stay in opposition, and closely monitor gwadar and iran-pak pipeline.
Is this why noora is trying to cozy up with imran? No one wants to join his government?
No, somebody mentioned to me the other day that you watch out that PML N are going to cancel Iran-Pakistan pipeline once they get into government.
Nawaz was asked question about it prior to the election and his response was we will see if it is in our national interest. WTF is he really blind not to see the energy shortfall.
But the reality was that he was warming up with USA and which you can see from his statements after wining the elections

PPPP guy is seeking to have result annulled for the seat won by Fazl as he is alleging that he (Faz) used religion to gain votes which is not allowed per the guide lines.
Now what was concerning was not the use of releigion but his (Fazl's) fatwa. where he apparent announced in Masjids and on loud speakers that if you dont vote for his party at the election than you will become a Kafir.
some one correct me on this, but this was the allegation by PPPP candidate.

Well he certainly said that voting for Imran Khan is a sin. One of his party's senior members was asked about the reasoning behind that fatwa of his against Imran Khan and after trying to dodge he said that it is a sin because Imran Khan has spoken against Fazlur Rehman who is a great Islamic scholar and anyone who speaks against great scholars Allah and His Rasul pbuh declare war against them (or something to that affect). I heard it myself on one of the shows.
I don't know if even Fazul ur Rehman believes his own fatwa. I hope he does not.
I am not sure about the Kafir thing though.

KARACHI: After the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) maintained its decision to hold re-elections in selected polling stations of NA-250 on Friday, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) said it was exploring legal and constitutional recourse on the matter.
MQM leader Wasay Jalil told the media at a press conference on Friday evening that the party leadership in London and Karachi was currently consulting legal and constitutional experts on the matter.
“The first session of consultations has ended and once we come to decision we will announce that.”
Jalil said that a decision is expected later on Friday.
Raza Haroon added that the matter was about the public’s right to vote and re-enforcing the faith in voting. “The ECP should have looked at the larger interest of the people.”
“This was a golden opportunity for the ECP to demonstrate to the people that while they could not conduct flawless elections everywhere, they could have conducted exemplary elections in NA-250.”
Of their consultations, Haroon said that they are currently looking at all options.
Earlier on Friday, the ECP had rejected the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) request to conduct re-polling in the entire constituency of NA-250 Karachi.

Nawaz, Kayani mark new beginning
May 19, 2013
Sajid Zia
Lahore -
Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani Saturday met with incoming prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shahbaz Sharif here at their Model Town residence.
General Kayani, who arrived in his private car without a formal protocol, spent about three hours with Sharif brothers and had lunch with them.
Neither the ISPR nor the PML-N Secretariat issued any press release about this unofficial call; however, informed party sources said the bigwigs discussed matters of national security, war on terror, regional peace and other relevant issues.
Some media reports said they also discussed the future of former Army Chief General Pervez Musharraf, who is under custody and is facing a plethora of cases including those relating to judges detention and murders of Benazir and Nawab Akbar Bughti.
The visit of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) is being regarded as highly important by the political observers as the PML-N is going to form governments at the Centre and in two provinces and it would need a smooth ride and cordial relationship with the military to deal with a number of internal and external challenges.
Sources said the army chief greeted the PML-N president on the victory of his party in the general elections and he extended full support for the continuation of democratic process in Pakistan. General Kayani also briefed Nawaz, who is going to have third term as prime minister, on the security situation and related matters.
During talks views were also shared on ridding the country of the major problems and both had unanimity of view that the security issues facing the country will be resolved through joint efforts.
Kayani reportedly also shared views with Nawaz on Pakistan ties with US, Afghanistan, India and other regional states in the context of war on terror and foreign troops’ pullout from Afghanistan by the end of next year. The point of the view of the army in relation to peace talk with Taliban also came under discussion, besides the policies being pursued by the army in this regard.
The PML-N chief lauded the role and sacrifices rendered by Pak Army in the war on terror and expressed the resolve that the civil and military sides will jointly frame a strategy to end the scourge of terrorism and ensure peace in the country and the region. Nawaz committed not to compromise on national sovereignty, and integrity of the country. On behalf of the upcoming government of the PML-N, he assured the army chief of fullest cooperation to end terrorism and bringing peace in the country. Nawaz Sharif, on a number of occasions, has voiced for initiating talks with the Taliban for national reconciliation and restoration of peace in the country and the region.
Some people were surprised to see that the Army Chief has undertaken the visit when the legislators elect, Nawaz and Shahbaz, have yet to take oath as members of the assemblies. But many believe that Gen Kayani’s surprise meeting with the incoming civilian leadership would send a strong message both home and abroad that army was ready to work with the new civilian setup in complete harmony. They say the visit of the army chief is adumbrative of cordial and close relations which the civil and the military sides are going to have with each other in the time to come, and it would scrap the impression of any possible strain in relations between the two.
Online adds: Sources said that Kayani and Nawaz agreed on declaring the drone attacks a sheer breach of country’s sovereignty and stressed that these strikes should be stopped forthwith. Pentagon in its recent statement has reiterated resolve to continue drone strikes and national circles from Pakistan are voicing concern over this statement.
Army chief during his address on Yume Shuhada had come down hard on those forces who do not consider war on terror as Pakistan own war. Nawaz has been holding the stance that the issue should be resolved by means of dialogue. Certain information has also come that new government is engaged in evolving a security policy on this count under which national stance will be pursued on the matter of war on terror.
The army chief gave briefing to Nawaz on national security situation and terrorism. Nawaz presented his national charter to the COAS. No one other than Sharif brothers was present in the meeting. Nawaz lauded the role played by army in extending security cooperation during May 11 polls. The observers believe this meeting would a long way to dispel the impression that the incoming civilian government and the military were set to go on a warpath over vital national security issues.
Meanwhile, British High Commissioner Adam Thomson met PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif here on Saturday.
During the meeting, Pak-Britain relations and matters of mutual interest, including Pakistan’s relations with neighbours also came under

ISLAMABAD: The votes in the biggest ever by-elections in Pakistan’s history have now almost completely been counted. By and large the polls were conducted in an orderly manner although it has been marred by few allegations of rigging, terrorist attack on Pakistan Army troops and women being denied the right to vote.
The polls are not expected to shatter the status quo in the country’s political discourse; however it will indicate the mood of the public regarding the incumbent political parties.
No massive change was witnessed in Sindh and Balochistan, like in the May 11 general elections, as the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) again topped the electoral race bagging 18 of 39 national and provincial seats.
However, few unexpected results have emerged in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.
The National Assembly seat vacated by PTI chief Imran Khan in Peshawar has been claimed by his May 11 rival, Ghulam Ahmed Bilour of Awami National Party (ANP).

By-elections: A glance at the three hot seats
DAWN.COM

File photo/AFP
Following is a glance at NA-1 (Peshawar-I), NA-48 (Islamabad-I) and NA-237 (Thatta-I).
NA-1 (Peshawar-I)
NA-1 is among the four seats spanning over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Peshawar district. It is mainly inhabited by Pashto, Hindko and Persian speakers and is also home to a small number of members from religious minority communities. The seat is viewed as an ANP stronghold and mainly features the Bilours as contenders from the party.
In the May 2013 general elections, NA-1 (Peshawar-I) was won by Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf chief Imran Khan who chose to retain his NA-56 seat from Rawalpindi and on which he had defeated Hanif Abbasi of the PML-N. On NA-1, Khan defeated former federal minisrer and Awami National Party leader Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour.
Major contestants for NA-1 are Ghulam Bilour and PTI’s Gul Badshah.

Moreover, a disgruntled leader of PTI, Samad Mursaleen, is also contesting as independent candidate in order to protest against the awarding of ticket to Badshah. The PTI has already terminated Mursaleen’s basic membership.
The seat fell vacant after PTI chief Khan, who had won from three National Assembly constituencies in the May 11 general elections, decided to retain a seat from Rawalpindi and vacated the two others.
During the general elections, he had defeated Bilour with a margin of over 65,000 votes.
In the by-elections, ANP enjoys the support of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F and Pakistan Peoples Party whereas the PTI candidate is supported by Jamaat-i-Islami and Qaumi Watan Party.
The seat was won in 2002 by MMA’s Shabbir Ahmed Khan with Usman Bashir Bilour of ANP coming second. In 2008, the seat was won by ANP’s Ghulam Ahmed Bilour with PPP’s Ayub Shah as runner-up.
NA-48 (Islamabad - I)
The constituency comprises mostly of the federal capital’s urban area.
In the May 2013 elections, NA-48 was won by PTI's Javed Hashmi who defeated the ruling PML-N’s Anjum Aqeel Khan. Hashmi, however, vacated the seat in order to retain the seat he won in his home constituency of Multan – NA-149.
In today’s by-elections, PTI’s Asad Umar is running for NA-48 with the backing of Jamaat-i-Islami (JI).

Umar's main rival in the contest is Chaudhry Ashraf Gujjar Advocate of the PML-N, but for most of the period, Gujjar had been attempting to retain the party ticket that had been challenged by Anjum Aqeel Khan who won the seat in 2008 from the PML-N’s platform.
The PML-N finalised the decision for Gujjar’s candidacy just eight days before the by-polls, resulting in a drawback for the candidate whose main opponent Umar spent a month on campainging.
The third major candidate in the run is PPP’s Faisal Sakhi Butt who secured only 9,178 votes in the May 11 elections.
It is pertinent to mention that the PPP has never won a seat from this constituency in the past.
In 2002, Mian Muhammad Aslam of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal won the seat and the runner-up was PPP’s Dr Babar Awan. The seat was won by Anjum Aqeel Khan in 2008 and PPP’s Syed Israr Hussain came in second.
NA-237 (Thatta-I)
The constituency comrpises the areas of Thatta, Mirpur Sakro, Gharo, Dhabeji and Keti Bunder talukas and is considered a family bastion of the Shirazis.
In the May 2013 general elections, the NA-237 seat for Sindh’s Thatta district was won by PPP’s Sadiq Ali Memon against his chief opponent Syed Riaz Husain Shah Shirazi.
Memon had been conditionally allowed by a court to contest in the elections until his petition relating to his dual citizenship decided his fate. He had won the May 11 election by a slim margin of some 2,700 votes against Riaz Shirazi of the then independent Shirazi group.
In today’s by-polls, Shamsunnisa Memon, the mother of Sadiq Memon, is PPP’s candidate contesting against Riaz Shirazi, who is now standing from the platform of the PML-N.
Local party cadres call Shamsunnisa Memon a person unknown and unheard of in politics and call her nomination tantamount to wooing a strong Memon vote.
In 2008, the NA-237 seat for Thatta was won by Dr Abdul Wahid Soomro of PPP with Riaz Shirazi, who at the time stood from the PML-Q platform, as runner-up. Moreover, in 2002, Syed Ayaz Ali Shah Shirazi won the seat with PPP’s Wahid Soomro coming in second.

DAWN.COM
LAHORE: Mian Marghoob Ahmad of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) on Wednesday emerged victorious after unofficial results of recounting at Lahore’s PP-150 seat, DawnNews reported.
Recounting was conducted at 147 polling stations of the provincial seat on the orders of acting Chief Election Commissioner, Justice Tassaduq Husain Jilani, after he took suo moto notice of PTI’s protest of alleged rigging during the August 22 by-elections.
According to the unofficial results of the recount, PTI’s Mehr Wajid Azeem managed to secure 18,073 votes compared to 18,526 votes for PML-N’s Mian Marghoob.
Returning officer, Javed Iqbal Warraich said recounting was completed under his close supervision and the presence of the two candidates.
“Mian Marghoob of the PML-N received 18,526. PTI’s Mehr Wajid received 18,073 votes,” said Warraich after the recounting process was completed.
The returning officer claimed that both parties were satisfied over the result of the recounting process.
However, Wajid refused to accept the result. The PTI candidate said the recounting officer was told of anomalies in the system, but no attention was given to his complaints.
